Our Story
Rachel’s culinary awakening didn’t happen in a traditional way. Growing up in a small coastal town in British Columbia, her parents ran a busy bed and breakfast overlooking the ocean. While most kids spent their mornings watching cartoons, Rachel found herself perched on a kitchen stool at 6 AM, watching her mother prepare elaborate breakfasts for guests from around the world. The sizzle of bacon, the golden perfection of French toast, and the delighted faces of travelers enjoying their morning meals became her earliest memories.
But it was the summers spent helping in that bustling B&B kitchen that truly shaped Rachel’s cooking philosophy. She learned that food wasn’t just about following recipes it was about making people feel welcome, cared for, and connected. When a guest mentioned they were vegetarian or had a gluten allergy, her mother would smile and say, “We’ll make it work beautifully,” and Rachel would watch as she adapted dishes with creativity and confidence.
After college, Rachel moved away from the coast and found herself missing those kitchen moments more than anything else. She started recreating the dishes from her childhood, then experimenting with new flavors and techniques.
