  • 1 cup water
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup walnut halves
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1.5 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon condensed milk
  • 1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a medium deep skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine water, sugar, and walnuts. Bring to a boil for about 2 minutes; transfer to parchment paper to dry.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, honey, condensed milk, and red pepper flakes; set aside.
  4. In another bowl, whisk egg whites and cornstarch until soft peaks form for the batter.
  5. Dip shrimp into the batter and fry in hot oil for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown; drain on paper towels.
  6. Toss fried shrimp in the prepared sauce immediately after frying and serve warm topped with walnuts.
