  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar (300g)
  • 1 large egg, room temperature (56g)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste (8g)
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (375g)
  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch (8g)
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder (2g)
  • 1/2 tsp fine salt (3g)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature (226g)
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste (12g)
  • 1/2 tsp fine salt (3g)
  • 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar (454g or 1 lb. box)
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream, room temperature (60g)
  • 1 cup coarse sanding sugar
  • 30 large chocolate chips
  • Round black sprinkles
  • Round red or pink sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together unsalted butter, cream cheese, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract; mix until combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients while mixing on low speed until just combined.
  5. Chill the dough for at least one hour in the refrigerator.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough onto prepared sheets and shape into balls.
  7. Bake for 12-14 minutes or until edges are lightly golden. Let cool on racks.
  8. For frosting: beat together butter, vanilla extract, salt, powdered sugar, and heavy whipping cream until smooth.
  9. Decorate cooled cookies with frosting and sprinkles.
