- 1 Tbsp cornstarch (8g)
- 1/2 tsp baking powder (2g)
- 1/2 tsp fine salt (3g)
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature (226g)
- 1 Tbsp vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste (12g)
- 1/2 tsp fine salt (3g)
- 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar (454g or 1 lb. box)
- 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream, room temperature (60g)
- 1 cup coarse sanding sugar
- 30 large chocolate chips
- Round black sprinkles
- Round red or pink sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together unsalted butter, cream cheese, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract; mix until combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients while mixing on low speed until just combined.
- Chill the dough for at least one hour in the refrigerator.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough onto prepared sheets and shape into balls.
- Bake for 12-14 minutes or until edges are lightly golden. Let cool on racks.
- For frosting: beat together butter, vanilla extract, salt, powdered sugar, and heavy whipping cream until smooth.
- Decorate cooled cookies with frosting and sprinkles.
