  • 1 head of cabbage (cored and coarsely chopped)
  • 3 tablespoons cold butter (cut into thin slices)
  • 1/4 cup butter (for cream sauce)
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon xanthan gum
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • Fresh ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef with dry minced onion until fully cooked; set aside.
  3. In a microwave-safe dish, combine chopped cabbage and salt with cold butter on top; cover and microwave on high for about 10 minutes.
  4. Layer half of the cooked cabbage in a 9×13 baking dish, followed by the browned beef and remaining cabbage.
  5. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat; add heavy cream and water, whisking in xanthan gum until thickened.
  6. Season with Cajun spices, salt, and pepper; pour sauce over casserole layers.
