  • 4 lbs beef shoulder or beef butt
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 tsp coconut sugar
  • 1 tbsp fine sea salt
  • 12 garlic cloves
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 1 cup water
  • 12 limes

Instructions

  1. Combine spices (oregano, coconut sugar, salt) in a jar and mix well.
  2. Rub the spice mixture all over the beef shoulder.
  3. Heat avocado oil in a nonstick pan; brown all sides of the beef for about 1-2 minutes each.
  4. Make slits in the beef and stuff with garlic chunks.
  5. Place seasoned beef and sliced onion in a slow cooker; add water and lime juice.
  6. Cook on high for 4-6 hours or low for 6-8 hours until easily shredded.
  7. Shred the beef, then spread on a foil-lined sheet pan and broil until crispy.
